From The Open Source Backup Wiki (Amanda, MySQL Backup, BackupPC)
Matilda 10:01, 22 November 2005 (PST): Probably you could link the Tapetype definitions article to the main page for fast access.
Paddy 12:19, 22 November 2005 (PST): I have added short-cut links to the main page.
Matilda 04:09, 23 November 2005 (PST): Hi Paddy, thank you for that. Another thing we struggeled with our own wiki. By default the fulltext index of the underlying mysql database does not index words with 3 or less letters. This is really bad, because in IT almost everything has a three letter acronym and everyone is searching for that, e.g. your article about ssh tunnel. I tried to search for ssh, but did not get a result. You have to change the setting ft_min_word_len = 3 in my.cnf of mysql and recreate the whole fulltext index (see ). Best regards Andreas Mock
Paddy 11:11 23 November 2005 (PST): I have asked administrator to look into this. Please send wiki related requests to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks, Paddy
Three letter words are now searchable. Thanks Andreas, for the suggestion and pointers.
Many thanks to Paul Bijnens for helping out with spam in last few days. Hopefully we have a handle on this unfortunate mess now.
Illegal Blocksize and Broken Pipe
I'm new to Amanda and I'm attempting to recover a file from some older tapes. After running the restore command, I get the below information...illegal blocksize and broken pipe. Any ideas on what I should do next?
bash-2.05a$ amrestore -p /dev/nst0 firebird.myhost.com sda3 | restore -ivbf 2 - restore: illegal blocksize -- f amrestore: 0: skipping start of tape: date 20030807 label daily13 amrestore: 1: skipping sunbird.myhost.com._dev_sda1.20030807.1 amrestore: 2: skipping thunderbird.myhost.com._dev_sda1.20030807.1 amrestore: 3: skipping firebird.myhost.com._dev_sda1.20030807.1 amrestore: 4: skipping sunbird.myhost.com._dev_sda3.20030807.1 amrestore: 5: skipping thunderbird.myhost.com._dev_sda3.20030807.1 amrestore: 6: restoring firebird.myhost.com._dev_sda3.20030807.1 Error 32 (Broken pipe) offset 32768+32768, wrote 0 amrestore: pipe reader has quit in middle of file. amrestore: skipping ahead to start of next file, please wait... bash-2.05a$
amcheck gives me an error permission denied
ERROR: honda: [could not access /dev/vg03/rlhome (/dev/vg03/lhome): Permission denied]
I have recently rebuilt a system and now I can not get amcheck to work. Does anyopne have any ideas?
I can add a language for the wiki page it?
If allowed, I would like to increase the Simplified Chinese language and start translating the wiki documentation, Who can tell what kind of work I need to do it?
Please contact email@example.com if you are interested.
