Increase the backup [[Level|level]] of a [[Dump|dump]], e.g. from level 0 to 1. The planner will bump a dump when the advantage of savings in backup time and space outweighs the costs of fetching an additional dump from storage while performing recovery.
 
Bumping is the opposite of [[Promote|promoting]].

Increase the backup level of a dump, e.g. from level 0 to 1. The planner will bump a dump when the advantage of savings in backup time and space outweighs the costs of fetching an additional dump from storage while performing recovery.

Bumping is the opposite of promoting.

You can control bumping with the variables bumppercent, bumpsize, bumpdays and bumpmult per DLE in amanda.conf(5).
