An entity within Amanda that represents a physical tape changer, e.g. a robot arm. With [[Vtape|vtapes]], the changer is a logical device that changes from one virtual tape to another. Specify in {{man|5|amanda.conf}}.
An entity within Amanda that allows access to multiple volumes.  A changer emulates a physical, robotic tape changer, but several changers are available which work with volumes other than physical tapes. For example, with [[Vtape|vtapes]], the changer is a logical device that changes from one virtual tape to another. Changers are described in {{man|7|amanda-changers}} and specified in amanda.conf.
