Promote

To change the run level of a dump to be more inclusive, e.g. from a partial backup to a full backup. Amanda will promote dumps from time to time when space is available. Promoting a dump reduces the number of tapes needed to restore a given DLE. You can control promotion with the per dumptype keyword maxpromoteday in amanda.conf(5).

Promoting is the opposite of bumping.
