While Amanda's run-time and build-time requirements are minimal, Amanda development requires fairly new versions of several tools.

SWIG
>= 1.3.31
Automake
>= 1.9.6
Autoconf
>= 2.60

For building the documentation (--enable-manpage-build):

xsltproc
no known minimum version
docbook-xsl-stylesheets
1.72.0 or higher
docbook-xml-dtd
4.1.2, 4.2, and 4.4 (yes, all three)
