Zmanda Pre-built packages

Pre-built packages are available from Zmanda Downloads. Amanda 2.5.x binary packages, Source tarball and source RPM are available for Debian/Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise 5.0, 4.0 and 3.0; Fedora Core 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7; SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, 10 and Open Suse 10.0. Amanda windows client (using Cygwin) is also available. The backup_server package should be installed on the Amanda backup server. It contains both the Amanda server and the client. The backup_client package should be installed on Amanda clients (computers that are backed up by Amanda server). It contains only Amanda client.

Check Zmanda Downloads page for instructions how to perform signature verification.

Some of the Amanda configuration steps are performed automatically by Amanda packages from Zmanda downloads page.

For instructions on using Windows client, please see the Windows client page.

Bundled with Distributions

2.4.5/2.5 Amanda rpms are available as part of RHEL 4, Fedora Core 3 and Fedora Core 4 distributions. There are two binary RPMS - amanda-server and amanda-client. You can also find the RPMs on the distribution media.

For SUSE, there is only one binary RPM - amanda.

Most linux distributions (Debian, Gentoo, Mandrake, TurboLinux) also package Amanda. Search for the packages in your distribution of choice.
